Day 364/5

ARGH!!!!!! On July 15th, I messed up the days. It's killing me not to go back & fix them all. This truly is day 365!!! I'm going to try to leave it alone. TRY being the operative word. I am moving on to a new blog so I might be able to leave it be. But, I'll always know......

Anyway, on to the final pic of the year:

You'd think that for New Year's Eve I could do better than this. We're not partiers! We don't go anywhere NYE. We did go out to Imo's for dinner & I guess I could have taken a pic of that since it's becoming the Ferguson NYE tradition but, I didn't. We went to Office depot to look for a new printer for me. In the parking lot there was a Beatle Bug. Inside the bug, there were these two little sweeties. I had to take a pic of Scotties in a Beatle Bug!!!

I did have to "alter" this pic. As you can tell, the glare on the window was really severe. I did an auto fix is PSE but that didn't help. I used a warm filter (not sure what it did but it looked better than w/o the filter) and then an "equalizing" filter. It made the puppies better to see. I need to play more with my PSE!!!

For 2010, I'm doing a new blog. To follow, go here

Day 303

Today was the BCA Varsity v Alumni game. Since this was first year as a Varsity player, it's the first year I went. Most of our varsity players graduated last year (hence, Nick playing varsity, lol). So, we're having a building year. If this game is any indication, this year is going to be HARD. The size difference between the kids that graduated a year or two ago and the currently players is AMAZING!! I hope our boys will have a growth spurt. SOON!!! I have no idea what the final score was 'cause the guys keeping score decided to add about 25 points to the varsity score & they "won" by about 2 points. The funniest thing: Jacob Gray (8th grade) playing against his dad (BCA class of 86!!)

Day 243

It sure FEELS like fall. It was 54 this morning when I woke up. Brrrrr. I'm ready to put up my fall/Halloween decorations. And, some of the trees are turning AND loosing leaves. The local TV meteorologist is predicting a very mild fall too. Hmmm, makes you wonder about climate change. I am enjoying the cooler temps and the fresh air!

Today was PJ day at school & I didn't get any pics :(. Well, since Nick didn't wear PJs (I figured the school would frown on boxers & a t-shirt & he claimed it was too hot to wear his PJ pants) there would not have been much point in a pic of him anyway!

Day 211

Thursday afternoon, Scott noticed a brown, sticky substance on the basement ceiling tile. Further investigation found there was a leak. We thought it was this pipe joint (we later discovered it was coming from MUCH higher up, in the bathroom). I was running the dishwasher & it started leaking. I stopped the d/w, it stopped running. Later, someone used the upstairs bathroom. Nothing. About 10 minutes later, drip, drip, DRIP!!! Big drips!!!

We called a plumber & he has to take out the vanity and cut a whole in the wall to get to the problem. He couldn't finish it that afternoon & would have had to charge us HUGE amounts to finish it after 5. We scheduled him to come back on 8/10, 3 days after we get back from KC. We can't use the upstairs sink until after then. The kids are brushing their teeth & washing their hands in the tub. Fun!

Day 151

I NEED to go to the Post Office. I have swaps & cards that MUST go out. I don't know why I put off the PO visit for so long! I guess 'cause mailing swaps can get complicated, it usually takes a long time to get thru (especially if you get a employee who just doesn't "get it") and I feel bad taking up that much time when people are waiting. The good news is there is a PO at the Mall (where the library is) and very few people go there. Makes it a bit quicker. The guy there doesn't quite understand it but, maybe he'll pick up on it!

Day 31

Long, long ago, in a galaxy not so far away, we played cards every Saturday night with Tim & Sarah. We've known them for nearly 20 years now and I really think we might be part of a dying breed of card players who play Pinochle. Scott taught me the game soon after we started dating. Let me tell you, I didn't pick up on it very quickly. We tried to teach my parents & THAT was a total disaster!!

Incidentally, we DID teach my parents the most STUPID game every created. The "real" name of it is "Oh Sh*t!" but there was no way my parents would learn a game w/that name so we changed it to "Oh Pooh Pooh!" It is sooooooo stupid but my hubby, my parents, Tim & Sarah and the kids LOVE it. I really, really hate it and would much rather play Pinochle. When my parents lived here we would play Oh Pooh Pooh w/Tim & Sarah every week. When my parents moved, we went back to playing Pinochle. Then Tim & Sarah (Hiram & Bernice as my dad liked to call them, I don't know why) got a summer "cottage" on the lake & spent every weekend there. Scott still plays cards w/his Mom, Aunt & Uncle every other weekend. We're getting back into the groove of playing w/T&S but, 4/15 the cottage will be open again.......
