This is our candy tub! We don't give out Trick or Treat candy anymore and the kids don't go door to door either. A few years ago, I got sick of the "bussed" in kids that come to our neighborhood. I told the kids that I would give them $$$ to not dress up & we'd buy a "good" candy assortment. It worked. Now, I get all the chocolate I want (Take 5s are only available on holidays now!!) and the kids are happy!!

Day 271

My brother broke ground on his house today! They've owned this property for about 6 months but have had to do all sorts of dancing around the bank to finally get a construction loan. Hard to picture what the house is going to look like by a hole in the ground. Gonna be pretty awesome!!

Day 241

We went to Chili's for dinner tonite. We walked in at 4:18 (yes, we are early birds. Can you imagine what we will be like when we're really old?? We'll eat supper at 11am!) Anyway, there were tons of people waiting in the entrance but TONS of tables open. I thought maybe they were a big party & they were moving tables or something for them. Imagaine my surprise when our party of 4 was given a beeper dealie & told we'd have 5 minute wait?!?! We sat outside (and I took cool pics of plants & junk). The large party walked out a few minutes later complaining about having to wait when there were lots of open tables. We were just about to leave when our buzzer went off & we were walked past all the open tables & stuck in the back, by the "to go" pickup. We asked the waiter why & he informed us that the wait staff for the front of the resturant wasn't there yet but our table had been open since he got there at 3:15. Even he was confused as to why we were told to wait. Odd!! Dinner was very, very good & our waiter was fantastic!! Odd situation but yummy results!

Day 209

I got up this morning & decided it was a pancake kind of day (it even included a "panny-cake" song!) Becca requested Mickey Mouse pancakes and I did give it a try. I think this looks more like Arthur than Mickey. But they tasted GOOD!!!

Day 180

I was sitting upstairs today, watching TV while folding laundry. For some reason, the tree & the leaves & the sunshine coming thru the window caught my eye. I wanted to see if a pic of the window would turn out (especially from across the room!) It's not exactly how my eye saw it but, it turned out pretty good. Not enough leave definition but, still what I wanted

Day 149

Nick was going NUTS to get into the pool. The weather has NOT been warm at all & it's been rainy. But he was insistent so, up we went. I figured he'd be in for 10 minutes & then be ready to go home. No way!! We were up for nearly an hour & a half!! Becca sat beside the pool for most of the time (and ended up w/a little burn!) but finally got in up to her waist. Nick was jumping & swing & splashing & generally having a good time. Even tho the water was FREEZING!!!! Should warm up next week!

Day 119

Last night was the BCA History & Science Fair (I thought Science & Geography Fair was more appropriate!) Nick did this all on his own. I think he did pretty good (It counts for 3 test grades; he got 100, 100 & 95 on it!) for not getting ANY help from mom & dad and the fact that he's not very motivated.


Some of the other kids went all out!! They had food & decorations & costumes!! One girl had great-great-grandmother's pictures from Italy. Pretty cool. Considering how tiny the school is, I thought they put on a pretty good "show".

Day 88

Woke up to a Spring Wonderland this morning. 3-4" of snow fell overnight. It was very pretty but not very nearly April! I didn't get to see if "hamster-size flakes" feel but I do know there was a bit of sleet

before hand (woke up at 1am & heard the frozen stuff hitting the windows.)

Well I knew it was supposed to warm up. This pic was taken 9 hours later. It's the same tree in my neighbor's yard. It doesn't look like the very wet, very heavy snow hurt any of the trees! Even the magnolia across the street looks ok, not all brown & icky like it has in previous years.

Day 29

This is a bush in front of my house. I think it's a boxwood. It's HUGE!!! I love snow covered greenery. I wish my holly bush was more dramatic 'cause I LOVE holly covered w/snow!
